National Aboriginal Day, now National Indigenous Peoples Day, was announced in 1996 by then Governor General of Canada, Roméo LeBlanc, through the Proclamation Declaring June 21 of Each Year as National Aboriginal Day.
The dates of the 2024 CSBA Congress and NTGIE will be July 2 to 5 in Toronto.
This Bill proclaims September 30 in each year as Orange Shirt Day, a day of remembrance of the history and legacy of residential schools and the resilience of the survivors.
