Privacy Information

Manitoba School Boards Association (“MSBA”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to preserving your right to privacy. We ensure that the confidentiality of your information is maintained and the collection, use and disclosure of your information is in compliance with the applicable Manitoba privacy laws, including, The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (“FIPPA”). This policy applies to the handling of personal information that is collected via the MSBA website (the “Website”).

Logging of Site Visitors

Like most web servers, the MSBA web server automatically collects certain information about visitors to the Website. The MSBA web server only logs the IP address of visitors. Depending on the naming standards of your internet service provider (ISP), this information may identify who you are. You may wish to contact your ISP for more information. The data logged by our web server is analyzed for trends and statistics. We use this information to make the Website more useful to you.  This data is then aggregated. This means we make no attempt to link this automatically collected information to your identity.

Collecting Personal Information to Provide Requested Services

Any personal information that you voluntarily provide to MSBA through the Website is collected in compliance with FIPPA. The personal information that you provide will be used only for the purpose(s) for which it is collected, and will not be used in any other way without your consent. The MSBA only collects personal information that is voluntarily submitted when using the Website. When you send us an e-mail that includes personal information, we will use the personal information provided to respond to your concern or question. Your e-mail may be shared with the appropriate people within the MSBA to help us respond to your concern or question.

Linking To Other Sites

As a user, you should be aware that when you are on the Website, you could be directed to other websites that are beyond our control. The Website may contain links to other websites or services that redirect you away from the Website. We are not responsible for the content and the privacy practices of external websites and encourage you to examine each website's privacy policy and disclaimers to make your own decisions regarding the accuracy, reliability and correctness of material and information found on those websites. This policy only governs the Website and does not extend to or govern any third-parties.

The Website links users to other websites neither maintained nor under the control of the MSBA. We cannot and do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, non-infringement or fitness for a particular purpose of any information available through the links and disclaim endorsements of the contents or opinions expressed on such websites.

Keeping Information Accurate

The MSBA will attempt to keep files containing personal information complete, up to date, and accurate in accordance with FIPPA.

Personal Information on File

Individuals have the right to view their personal information contained in our files, upon written request. However, MSBA may not be able to provide access to such files if it: (i) would reveal personal information about a third party, (ii) is subject to legal privilege, (iii) contains other confidential information which would be revealed, (iv) is information that was generated in the course of a formal dispute resolution process, (v) relates to an investigation of a breach of agreement or contravention of laws, or (vi) cannot be disclosed for other legal or security reasons.

The MSBA shall not be liable to you and/or any third party for any damages of any kind arising out of or relating to the performance of the Website or its contents including, but not limited to, any lost profits, lost opportunities, special, incidental, indirect, consequential or punitive damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.


The Manitoba School Boards Association logo is a trademark or trade name of the MSBA. All other trademarks appearing on any links are the property of their respective owners.

The MSBA owns all legal right, title, and interest in and to the Website, including any intellectual property rights (including but not limited to patents, copyright, and trademark) which subsist in the Website (whether those rights happen to be registered or not, and wherever in the world those rights may exist) unless otherwise advised by MSBA.

You irrevocably waive any claim against the MSBA with respect to such other services.

Third Party Services

Our use of third party services for certain features (such as our use of Hellosign for electronic signatures) requires the sharing of personal information. By using the services available on the Website, you authorize us to share your personal information with such third party services.
