As bills are introduced before the Manitoba Legislature, they are made available on the Legislative Assembly website. The full text of each bill, plus its status before the Legislature, can be accessed from this website. The website also lists information about legislative committees, including how to make a presentation, and notice of upcoming meetings.

Bills that are currently before the legislature, or which were recently passed, along with brief descriptions of each can be found on this page. You can find government news releases relating to many of these bills under News From Broadway. 

Before the Legislature

  • The second session of the 43rd legislature adjourns until March 5, 2025.

Recently Passed

  • Reasons for Hope: Manitoba Government Passes Throne Speech in Legislature on November 28, 2024. In this speech, the government announced its plan to introduce Nello’s Law, a piece of legislation that would enshrine the current universal school food program into law permanently. This would keep any future government from cutting this program, noted the premier. The name is in reference to Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Nello Altomare, who advocated for and brought in this program in 2024.

  • Bill 21, The Public Schools Amendment Act, is amended to expand who is considered to be a resident pupil. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, the compulsory school age is lowered from seven to six. The age at which a child has the right to attend school is lowered from six to five.
  • Bill 37, The Budget Implementation and Tax Statutes Amendment Act, implements measures announced in the 2024 Manitoba Budget and makes various other amendments to tax and financial legislation.
