Provincial Election 2019

The Manitoba provincial election was held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

In Canada, public schooling is largely a provincial responsibility. Voter decisions at this level have a direct impact on both children’s education, and their overall well-being. And this year, with Manitoba in the midst of a review of the K-12 school system, education will be an especially important election issue.

From now until the election, we will be posting links to each of the major political parties’ websites, party platforms and statements, and media coverage of relevant party announcements, as they become available. We will also be reaching out to each of these parties for their responses to a series of questions focused on critical issues in K-12 education.

We have developed a resource for school boards and communities to use in their own pre-election advocacy efforts, including questions that can be used to initiate a dialogue with candidates about the important education issues that matter most to the children, youth and communities of Manitoba, and the importance of Local Voices, Local Choices.

In the coming weeks, major media outlets will be launching web pages dedicated to the 2019 Manitoba election. We will post links to those pages as they become available.
