DESCRIPTION:The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is observed annually on December 3rd. The theme for this year is “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.” This theme recognizes the important role that persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. It also emphasizes the importance of the participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes that affect their lives.     \nThe theme this year reflects the current international political and policy context\, in particular the Pact for the Future and the upcoming 2025 World Summit for Social Development\, and the need to create momentum for achieving the 2030 Agenda. The theme seeks to amplify the centrality of the leadership role of persons with disabilities\, in all of these efforts – from the global to the local.

DESCRIPTION:The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is about remembering those who have experienced gender-based violence and those who we have lost to it. It is also a time to take action. Achieving a Canada free from gender-based violence requires everyone living in this country to educate themselves and their families and communities on gender-based violence\, centre the voices of survivors in our actions and speak up against harmful behaviours.

We have an opportunity to change perceptions by speaking up against hate speech\, correcting misinformation and countering disinformation. This is the time to mobilize action to reinvigorate a global movement for human rights. \nHuman Rights Day is observed annually around the world on 10 December. It commemorates the anniversary of one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being – regardless of race\, colour\, religion\, sex\, language\, political or other opinion\, national or social origin\, property\, birth or other status.
