SAFETY
IN THE SCHOOL WORKSHOP AND BOILER ROOM |
do all soldering in an area free of combustibles and volatile liquids. Keep an extinguisher ready for use.
Store all flammable liquids in proper containers and cabinets.
Remove the burner heads of propane torches after use, because this seals the canister and prevent leaks.
Never use solvents in the boiler room because the pilot light or furnace flame could ignite the fumes and cause an explosion.
Propane tanks and other containers of fuel must NEVER be stored in the he boiler room. Such containers should be kept out of the school building if at all possible.
Oily rags cause many fires each year and they should be thrown out after use.
Sawdust and shavings become very dry indoors and are easily ignited. Vacuum these areas regularly.
Keep the workshop locked when not in use.
When using power tools, watch for frayed cords and keep all guards in place. Never use in a wet area, and wear your safety goggles or mask.
