An artificial "Flame Resistant" tree is recommended for use in all schools.
If using a real tree, remember the following points:
obtain a tree that is freshly cut
keep the tree away from drapes, registers, radiators, and television sets.
use a tree stand with widespread legs and immerse the tree butt in a water container.
use only (CSA) Canadian Standards Association approved lights and non-flammable decorations.
remove the tree outside of the school as soon as possible after Christmas..
Do not allow trees or other Christmas decorations to block doors or exits.
Switch off lights when leaving the building.

Do not run extension cords under carpeting and place them so as not to present a tripping hazard.
Do not overload circuits.
Keep children away from snow blowers as gravel and bits of ice can cause injuries.
Keep sidewalk and steps ice free.
Keep fire exits snow free.
