48th Annual Convention - Delta Winnipeg

Leadership for 21st Century Learning

Twenty-first century learning refers to the broad range of skills and knowledge—some traditional, some emerging—that will most benefit students today and into the future. It also refers to the ways in which those skills and knowledge are acquired and applied, both within and beyond our classroom walls. Leadership for 21st Century Learning, the theme of our 48th Annual Convention, focuses on the responsibility of school boards and educational leaders to provide the resources and conditions necessary for such skills and knowledge to flourish.

The Manitoba School Boards Association's annual convention will be held March 15 to 17, 2012 at the Delta Winnipeg.

Keynote Speakers

Thursday, March 15 morning keynote

Craig Keilburger
The Worlds Needs Your Kid: How One Person Can Make a World of Difference

We are excited to confirm that Craig Keilburger will be our Thursday morning keynote speaker! As a 12-year old, Craig founded Free the Children in 1995. Since then,
his quest for social justice has led to the establishment of Me to We, and most recently, We Day, which came to Winnipeg in November. Craig will be sharing his thoughts on
social justice as a cornerstone of 21st-century learning.

Saturday, March 17 closing keynote

Marc Kuly
Making School Matter for Students and Teachers: A Storytelling Approach

For the past six years, with The Winnipeg School Division and Manitoba School Improvement Program, Marc Kuly has used storytelling to bring together diverse groups of students. By challenging them to tell their stories Marc has motivated students to take charge of their lives and education.
